The Fiji branch of the Ramakrishna Mission is a non-profit service organization which has been serving people of all races, religions, beliefs since 1937. Over these 70 years it has established the following institutions to cater for the spiritual and educational needs of the society:
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Nadi: This is the Fiji headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission from where the following service activities of the organization are administered:
- a) Regular worship, scriptural classes, meditation, spiritual counselling etc.
- b) Promotion of moral, ethical and spiritual culture and harmony of religions where all religions are accepted as various paths to the same God who is called by different names.
- c) Distribution of food rations to poor and needy families.
Swami Vivekananda College, Nadi: is a premier institution renowned for its excellence. It has been serving for 60 years and has a roll of about 1,000 students. It has produced professionals such as educationists, doctors, engineers, politicians, who have served the country with distinction.
Vivekananda Technical Centre, Nadi: This training centre was started to serve those students who could not pursue higher education. Currently, it runs courses in Automotive Engineering, Carpentry and Joinery, Cookery and Food Production and Agriculture. In recognition of its excellence and facilities, the Government of Fiji has designated the centre as a Quality Vocational Centre.
